Research Institute for Groundwater (RIGW)

The mission of RIGW is to carry out research to support groundwater development and management plans, within the framework of the overall integrated water resources development and management, aiming at increasing the contribution of groundwater in the water and food security programs for the growing population of Egypt. To fulfill this mission, RIGW supports the initiation of a management and legislation system for the protection of groundwater from degradation and the control of the environmental impacts that may accompany groundwater development.

  Construction Research Institute (CRI)

The mission of the Institute is to upgrade and enhance the capabilities of the MWRI by adapting and developing new design and construction methodologies to cope with the international innovations in building technology. This is achieved through: upgrading and/or developing the design and maintenance procedures of irrigation structure and specifying the most suitable construction methods and materials; applying quality assurance and quality control systems and specifying the required levels of safety for the different irrigation structures; upgrading and/or developing the design and construction methods of the different types of foundations and earth structures; and evaluating the effect of dynamic forces on irrigation and drainage structures and means of mitigation.

Mechanical and Electrical Research Institute (MERI)

MERI has advanced instrumentation and software programs for optimizing performance and efficiency of the electromechanical systems in MWRI. MERI uses modern techniques and up to date standards to evaluate pumping systems. MERI offers technical training programs for engineers and technicians in the field of pumping stations operation, control, and maintenance.

  Survey Research Institute (SRI)

The principal goals of SRI are to adopt, develop, and incorporate modern methods of computer aided field surveying and data processing with the aim of accelerating the production and updating various types of maps. In addition, the SRI serves as a central organization for developing and applying all modern aspects of geodesy, photogrammetric , remote sensing and geographic Information systems for the purpose of improving the methodology , accuracy and reliability of the survey works in Egypt. for more information visit our website

  Coastal Research Institute (CORI)

The main goals of the Institute are to monitor the evolution of the Egyptian northern coast, to study the dynamics of its shores and to find out the most efficient and cost-effective control works to protect the heavily populated areas with their valuable agricultural land, industrial establishment and infra-structure from erosion problems, as well as from siltation of the outlets of the northern lakes. In addition, the Coastal Research Institute provides expert advice to the Egyptian Government in problems associated with coastal instability and coastal zone management for the Mediterranean and Red Sea.

The Environment and Climate Research Institute (ECRI)

The Institute objectives are to study the climatic conditions “regionally and nationally”; study the long-term effect of climatic fluctuations on natural resources; particularly water resources; develop effective methodologies for optimal management of water due to serious climatic fluctuations; provide scientific information on water quality management to decision makers and planners; and cooperate with regional, national and international organizations in research areas related to climate change, water quality and environment.
