The main goals of the institute are to propose policies leading to more efficient use of water resources in terms of methods used for distribution and management of irrigation water, determination of water consumption of agricultural crops under different climatic conditions and development methods and systems of irrigation networks with the economic and social changes implications.

  Hydraulics Research Institute (HRI)

The Hydraulics Research Institute overall mission is conducting research for developing the system of waterways and their hydraulic structures. Specific aims are : conducting researches connected with developing the irrigation and drainage system for improving water structures, which are suitable for their specific purposes, calibration of the different pump stations for irrigation and drainage and devices for velocity measurement structure; and developing the devices used in measuring different hydraulic parameters.

  Drainage Research Institute (DRI)

The Drainage Research Institute (DRI) carries out applied research to support national plans for developing land drainage and implementing technically effective and economically sound drainage system in Egypt. DRI also develops tools for planning and managing the reuse of drainage water in irrigation. Within these two main areas of activities, DRI focuses its resources to present innovative solutions to related problems.
