Why a New Center? Countries in the Arab/Africa regions have a long history in water management, in a broad environmental and climatic range, from forests to hyper-arid deserts. As the network node, Egypt has its wide-range expertise in water management. Sensitive to the rising threats, and believing in the importance of the soft dimension of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Egypt has taken a major action by issuing a decree for establishing a center for water ethics. The Center is now functioning. It serves Egypt, the Arab countries and the Nile Basin. The Center is focusing mainly on the development and support of research, studies, training and dissemination of appropriate educational materials on the ethics of water within the Arab/African region.
