History of the Regional Networks

Participants and representatives of Arab countries from Jordan (National  Commission for Education Culture and Science), Sudan (UNESCO Chair for  Women Science & Technology), Yemen (Ministry of Water Resources and   Environment), Palestine (Water Research Center, Alazhar University), Morocco  (Secretariat d’Etat Charge de L’Eau), CEDARE, Arab Network for Environment  and Development (RAED) and from Egypt: Ministry of Water Resources and  Irrigation (MWRI), National Water Research Center, Regional Center for   Training and Water Studies, Regional Center for Research and Studies of    Water  Ethics, Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, Agriculture  Research Center, and UNESCO Cairo Office, met in Cairo on the 5th & 6th of   March 2006, in a workshop organized by the UNESCO Cairo Office in  collaboration with the Regional Centre for Water Ethics in Cairo and the  Regional Center for Training  and Water studies.

The Participants after two days of extensive discussions, following the  launching  of The Arab Network for Water Uses Ethics (ANWE), outlined  suggestions and recommendations that are depicted in a strategy document.
